CLINTON, N.Y. -- Jen McGowan '08 tied a career high with five goals to help lead nationally ranked No. 4 Hamilton College to its second straight Liberty League championships tournament title, holding off visiting Union 11-10 at Campus Road Athletic Field on May 3.

Hamilton (17-1 overall) and No. 7 Union played for the league's tournament title for the third straight year. The Continentals are 2-1 in championship games while the Dutchwomen dropped their record to 2-3 in the final. Hamilton broke the program record for wins in a season with its 17th victory. The Continentals have won 15 in a row overall, 20 consecutive at home and 20 straight against league opponents.

Hamilton earned an automatic bid to the NCAA Division III championships for winning the league tournament. The tournament bracket will be announced on Sunday, May 4, between 7:30 and 8:30 p.m.

McGowan's fifth goal gave the Continentals an 11-9 lead with 4:02 left in regulation. Kaillie Briscoe '09 snapped a 9-9 tie on an unassisted goal from the left side with 5:59 remaining. Briscoe finished the day with the one goal and one assist. Union (13-3) made it a one-goal contest with 1:44 left when it converted a free-position shot, but could not get the equalizer to send the game to overtime.
