Rome Free Academy ace Garrett Baker showed some mettle on Monday, overcoming 10 hits allowed by striking out 12 batters in a complete game 6-3 win over CNY Counties League and local rival Proctor at DeLutis Field. Baker also led the Black Knights' offense, going 3-for-4 with three RBI.

After a three-run at-bat in the bottom of the 3rd inning put RFA up 4-1, Proctor came back with two runs in the top of the 5th with a two-out, two-strike, two-run single by Caesar Pujals, cutting the score to 4-3. Proctor had another chance in the top of the 6th with the bases loaded and two out, but Bates struck out Adam Dee to end the threat. Baker's final line was seven innings, three earned runs, 10 hits, two walks, one hit batter, and 12 strikeouts.

RFA is now 9-6 overall and 5-1 in league play; Proctor falls to 8-6 (3-3).
