Holmes Shows Plenty of Fight on Induction Day

Sports WKTV

CANASTOTA, N.Y. -- There are hall of fame induction speeches, and then there's what Larry Holmes did on Sunday. After misplacing his induction speech notes, the former heavyweight champion decided to speak off the cuff, and with legendary comedian and parade co-grand marshall Pat Cooper looking on, Holmes exploded in a roast-style rant about fellow hall of famer George Foreman (who was not present).

Holmes, irked that Foreman never fought him, slammed Foreman on everything from the level of his opponents to his famous grills to the choice to name all of his sons "George" in a riotous tyrade lasting more than two minutes. Holmes also talked about coming up as an underdog with the likes of Muhammad Ali and Joe Frazier fighting at the time and having to earn everything he achieved, something he believes has been largely lost in today's society.
