Poland Boy's Soccer Team Playing In The State Semi-Finals

By Vic Vetters

The Tornadoes took on Greenport from Long Island in the semi-finals. Just about 16 minutes into the game, Rich Hazard, of the Tornadoes, gets the ball in front of the net and scores. Poland leads one to nothing. Less than 7 minutes later, they double it. This time, it’s Hazard all by himself. It ends up being Hazard’s 30th goal of the season.

However, Greenport wasn’t going to go that quietly. They score late in the first half, making the score 2-1. In the second half, the Poland boys score again. That makes the score 3 to 1.

In the end, the Poland boys win by a score of 4 to 1, with Quinn Agen scoring the final goal. So, the Tornadoes are going to the state championship for the first time ever. Their opponent will be the undefeated Chazy. The game is Sunday at 11 at the Soccer Hall of Fame.
