Clinton Girls Give Little Falls First Loss

LITTLE FALLS, N.Y. (WKTV) - The Clinton girls basketball team handed Little Falls its first loss of the season on Saturday, winning the Lady Mounties' snow-delayed holiday tournament championship 60-47.

Clinton, which plays in Class B, held an 18-12 lead over Class C Little Falls after the first quarter and led 27-18 at the half.  The Lady Mounties cut the score to 39-35 after three quarters, but the Lady Warriors outscored their hosts 21-12 in the fourth and held Little Falls to just one field goal to pull away.

Each team had three players score in double figures.  For Clinton, Lauren Conway had 12 points, tournament Most Valuable Player Allie Donovan had 11 and four steals and Kati Griffiths also scored 11.  For Little Falls, freshman Jenna Becker led with 16 points, Olivia Tooley added 15 and Sue Schoff chipped in 10.

The victory improves Clinton to 8-2 overall.  Little Falls, which is ranked No. 5 in Class C, falls to 8-1.

In the consolation game, Waterville beat Sauquoit Valley 46-24.  The games were originally scheduled for this past Tuesday but was postponed due to snow.
