Syracuse starts first spring practice under Marrone

SYRACUSE, N.Y. (WKTV) -  Central New York is one of the places where spring still feels like football weather.  So perhaps it was fitting that Syracuse football held its first spring practice on a nice 29-degree spring day, 18 with the wind chill.

New head coach Doug Marrone had his first on-field look at the Orange, which was quite a different view from his playing days there.  Given the new system and the cold weather, his team was a bit slow at the start, but overall things seemed to run smoothly.

"It feels great," said Marrone of getting underway.  "It's something that I dreamed about my whole life, so i'm excited about it."

On what he felt was accomplished on day one, Marrone said "I think what we've done is we introduced the fundamentals of what need to be done on the football field.  I think we introduced the tempo we're looking for out of our players.  I think we introduced that we have a long way to go as far as those fundamentals and the type of tempo we need to get to before we become successful."
