MARCY, N.Y. (WKTV) - The Whitesboro boys lacrosse team lost a fourth-quarter lead then took it back and held on to edge East Syracuse-Minoa on Thursday 6-5.
Leading 4-1 late in the third quarter, ES-M trimmed it to 4-2 going into the fourth then surged ahead 5-4 with 7:36 left. Whitesboro battled back to tie it on an A.J. Desimone score with 5:13 left and Alex Rukavena put the Warriors back in the lead with 3:58 remaining.
The Spartans, who beat the Warriors 12-7 earlier this season, had possession for the final minute but could not get off a shot. Mike Quadear was in the process of taking a close-range shot in the final seconds but lost the ball, and time ran out while players fought for it on the ground.

For ES-M, Mike Cummings notched three goals and an assist and James Chayka had one and two. Matt Letcher made 13 saves.
Whitesboro is now 8-5 overall and 5-4 in league play. ES-M drops to 6-6 (5-3).
