CICERO, N.Y. (WTKV) - After three straight shutouts to open the playoffs and win its first sectional title since 2000, the Notre Dame softball team's run came to an end on Saturday with a 3-1 loss to South Lewis in the Section III, Class C-1/C-2 final at Cicero's Gillette Road complex.
Notre Dame, the Class C-2 champion, took a 1-0 lead on an error by South Lewis starting pitcher Jenna Kraeger in the top of the third inning. Class C-1 champion South Lewis tied it in the fourth with an RBI triple by Mackenzie Colwell and went ahead with two runs in the sixth, becoming the first team to score on the Lady Jugglers and ace Keaton Perry this postseason.
The victory improves South Lewis to 16-8 and sends the Lady Falcons to the state Class C tournament beginning next week in Binghamton. Notre Dame ends the season 16-6.
