MVCC women's basketball and softball coach leaving for North Carolina

UTICA, NY (WKTV) - MVCC women's basketbal and softball coach Bobby Allison has accepted the women's basketball head coaching job Guilford Technical Community College in North Carolina. He'll be reunited with former MVCC men's basketball coach Phil Gaffney, who is athletic director and men's basketball coach there. 19 during his seven seasons. He was named Mountain Valley Conference Coach of the Year in 6 of his 7 seasons. Coach Allison was named Coach of the Year in District A in 2003, 2005, 2006, 2007 and 2008. He was been named Coach of the Year in Region III in 2004 and in 2007. In 2007 and 2008 he was also named NYSBCA and WBCA National Coach of the Year. He has guided the Hawks to the National Final Four in 5 of his 7 years as Head Coach. His teams reached the Region 3 Championship in each of his 7 seasons. He guided the Hawks into the 3 straight National Championship games in 2006, 2007 and 2008. Under his direction the Hawks won 6 Mountain Valley Conference Championships (current streak), 5 Region 3 titles and 5 District A titles. The team also had an 88 game regular season win streak, a 46 game home unbeaten streak, and currently has won 82 Mountain Valley Conference games in a row.


Allison took over the Women’s Basketball program in 2002. Coach Allison spent five years as the Assistant Men’s Basketball Coach before moving over to the women’s program. Coach Allison’s Teams compiled a record of 215

Coach Allison has also directed the Women’s Softball program at MVCC since 2001. His teams compiled an overall record of 198 - 70. They were Mountain Valley Conference Champions in 2003, 2006, 2007 and 2008. He was named MVC Coach of the Year in 2007, 2008 and 2009. In 2007 and 2009 they finished as Region 3 Runners up and in 2008 finished 3rd.
