If the Mohawk Valley Community College men's ice hockey team could have played all three periods against second-ranked Monroe CC like it played the final two on Sunday at the Aud, the Hawks might have earned an upset win. Instead, MV's sluggish start put it in an early hole, and the team had to settle for a hard-fought 4-4 tie.

Trailing 2-0 after a lackluster first period, the Hawks regrouped and came out hard in the second, tying the game at 2-2. Monroe scored late in the period to go up 3-2 heading into the third, but MVCC stayed strong, scoring two more goals to take its first lead at 4-3. The lead would not last though, as the Tribunes scored on a power play with seven minutes remaining to tie the game at 4 a piece. A scoreless overtime produced the final result.

Clinton grad Nick Snyder and Proctor grad Kyle Tolman each had a goal and an assist for the Hawks, while goalie and RFA grad Sam Myers recorded 43 saves.

MVCC is now 7-8-1 overall.
