VERONA, N.Y. (WKTV) - It did not take long for Tiger Woods to ingratiate himself to Central New York's golf fandom.

Thousands lined fairways and greens of the Atunyote Golf Club, all to see a glimpse of golf's best player. Woods, Camilo Villegas and Mike Weir competed alongside Notah Begay during the Notah Begay III Foundation Challenge. Woods proved victorious winning $230,000.

"He's probably the greatest golfer in the world right now...if not the greatest ever," said Mark Vacca of Rome. "Just to see something like that is great for the local area."

"To have so few people here and a bird's eye view of the greatest golfer of all time is pretty amazing," said Matt Frechette of Jordan, New York.

The Oneida Indian Nation of New York and San Manuel Band of Serrano Mission Indians of California combined efforts to form this event, designed to help native American youths.
