Proctor out-guns RFA in season opener

ROME, N.Y. (WKTV) - For the Proctor Raiders, 2008 was a season they would like to forget. Friday night was a good way to start putting that 1-8 campaign behind them as they defeated long time rival RFA 40-30 at RFA Stadium.
It did not start out on a postive note for Proctor (1-0). Kyle Kimball took the opening kickoff for Rome 88 yards for the touchdown to give the Black Knights the 6-0 lead. Proctor marched right back down to take a 7-6 lead on a Richard Pete five yard touchdown run.
Kimball tacked on another in the first quarter and Rome added a field goal before Proctor's special teams shined. Pete then took a kickoff 90 yards for a touchdown to get within two points at 16-14.
That is when Will Hawkins took over. His touchdown pass to Karmon Stubbs gave Proctor the lead 20-16 at the half. Hawkins ran for three more touchdowns in the second half and finished with 230 yards on the ground.
Proctor avenges last seasons 21-18 loss to RFA and spoils the debut of first year head coach Ted Swavely. RFA next travels to Corcoran next Friday while Proctor will host C-NS.
