UTICA, N.Y. (WKTV) - World Series champion Brett Gardner was in Central New York on Wednesday for a card and collectibles show and autograph session to benefit Notre Dame schools.

Gardner, a member of the 2009 Yankees, signed hundreds of autographs and took pictures with just about everyone who came up to him. Before the signing, he sat down with NEWSChannel 2 Sports Director Jason Powles for a question and answer session.

"It's unbelievable", he told the crowd when asked what it felt like to win the World Series. Gardner spoke about this times in the minor leagues and recalled being good friends with J.T. LaFountain, a teammate of his at the Staten Island Yankees. LaFountain, a Proctor grad was drafted by the Yankees and played in the minors until injuries ended his baseball career.

As for Gardner's future with the Yankees, it seems uncertain. He said he will go home, enjoy his family for a few weeks, then get right back to work preparing for the 2010 season where he hopes to not only win a roster spot, but a starting spot in centerfield.
