CLINTON, N.Y. (WKTV) - The Hamilton College mens's and women's lacrosse teams are about to wrap up the regular season this weekend with playoff positioning on the line.
The lady Continentals, ranked No. 1 for the second straight week in the Division III Top 20 coaches poll, host Skidmore College and No. 11 Union College for the final Liberty League games of the regular season. Hamilton is 14-0 overall and 6-0 in the league. Skidmore is 3-3 in the league and visits Clinton on Friday for a 4 p.m. start. The big game is on Saturday against Union at 4. Union is nationally ranked as well and enters the weekend with a 6-0 league record, same as Hamilton. If Hamilton wins both games, they complete the program's first undefeated regular season, and will host next weekend's four-team league tournament.
The men host St. Lawrence University for the league and regular season finale on Saturday at 1pm. Hamilton and St. Lawrence are in a 3-way tie for fourth place in the league standings with 2-3 league records. If Hamilton wins, they will make the four-team league tournament for the first time since 2006. If St. Lawrence wins, Hamilton will not make the postseason. Also, Hamilton is 10-3 overall. A win on Saturday would be the team's 11th, which would be the highest total since the 2006 team finished the year with an 11-3 record.
