NEW HARTFORD, N.Y. (WKTV) - Dylan Hoffman and about fifty other seniors have one more high school football game left to play, and that's June 6, at the new Empower NYS High School Football Classic at the Carrier Dome.
Hoffman, a senior offensive lineman at New Hartford who will be playing at the University of Rochester next year, will be joined by linebacker Dave Fasalino, from rival Whitesboro as the two reprsentatives from the Mohawk Valley.
Spartans head coach Bob Jones made the announcement from the New Hartford High School Library Friday morning. Hoffman, joined by family, friends and classmates, was also presented with a certificate from the US Army to commemorate his participation.
Hoffman says he's excited to play in the game, which takes the place of the now defunct Governor's Cup, which was played between New York and New Jersey for eleven years, until 2008. "It's a great chance to cheer on your local athletes and root them on for, it's pretty much their last chance to show what they got in high school before they move on to college, so it would be great to see a lot of people there."
