UTICA, N.Y. (WKTV) - When the Team USA hockey team took to the ice against Team Canada, Friday, in a rematch of the 2010 Gold Medal game, locals took to the Celtic Harp to cheer on the Red, White, and Blue.
Many locals took an extended lunch from work in order to watch an event that comes around just once every four years, and especially with revenge on the minds of Americans nationwide.
For many, this was a must-see event, and marked the most exciting type of competition in sports.
"If you're a hockey fan, Olympic hockey is the pinnacle of hockey in the world," said Utica resident, Kyle Hutchinson. "These guys look forward to it for four years and every chance they get they're playing as hard as they can go, so this is the best hockey to watch."
The afternoon ended in extreme disappointment for those who watched, with the United States falling to Canada by a 1-0 score.
However, the US still has a chance to medal when the team takes on Finland in the Bronze medal game Saturday at 10 a.m. ET.
