TOWN OF ALMOND, N.Y. (AP) - A Geneseo man was shot to death this
weekend while hunting in Allegany County.

New York State Police in Belmont say Brandon Haugh was hunting with a group of four other people in the Town of Almond.

Another hunter, not in Haugh's group, mistook Haugh for a deer and shot him in the neck. Police have not identified the shooter.

Police say he died instantly. An autopsy is being performed at the Monroe County Medical Examiner's office.

State Police and NYS Environmental Conservation Police are still
investigating the incident.

Allegany County District Attorney Terrence Parker will review
investigation results to determine whether charges are possible.
