SYRACUSE, N.Y. (AP) - A fight is smoldering between two candle companies.

Lawyers for Marklin Candle Design in New Hampshire last month sent a letter to Syracuse-based Cathedral Candle Company demanding that it stop making "Artisan Wax Advent Candles." The candles have bands of color or gilding around the bottom. The New Hampshire company claims the bands are an identifying feature of their candles.

Cathedral says it has been making candles with colored bottom bands for decades.The Syracuse company ignored a requested September 15th deadline to stop making the candles and has asked a judge to resolve the dispute.
