OWEGO, N.Y. (AP) - Some deer hunters near Binghamton may have felt they were the ones being hunted.

Police say they've arrested a Tioga County man after he allegedly fired an AK-47 assault rifle into a wooded area in the direction of the hunters.

Authorities say 44-year-old Paul Murphy of Owego was charged with reckless endangerment.

Investigators say Murphy also asked a young teenager to shoot the AK-47 into the woods and into the ground. As a result, the man was charged with criminal solicitation.

Police didn't say why Murphy apparently was shooting the assault rifle from his residence toward the hunters.

He was ordered to appear in a town court next week.
