ROCHESTER, N.Y.(AP) - One of Rochester's most notorious mobsters was moved from a California federal prison to a halfway house.

Eighty-two-year-old Rene Piccarreto was moved last week after serving more than two decades for his role in a wave of shootings, bombings and killings during Rochester's mob wars of the 1970s and '80s.

Piccarreto's son told the Democrat and Chronicle in Rochester that his father will likely stay on the West Coast after his release.

Piccarreto and six others were convicted in 1984 in federal court of racketeering crimes.
