NEW YORK (AP) - Mayor Michael Bloomberg was dismissed from jury duty today.

Bloomberg was called to a courtroom this morning with about 35 other prospective jurors so that attorneys could choose a panel for a personal injury case involving a taxicab crash.

But he wasn't picked. He was tossed back into the jury pool yesterday too, but he certainly wasn't just another citizen. The mayor signed autographs, was sketched by courtroom artists and was personally greeted by the judge and attorneys. And some of his fellow prospective jurors said he is as normal as anyone else.

Bloomberg last was called in February 2001, the year he ran for mayor. He served one day but was not picked for a jury. He also served one day in February 1996.

He has been picked to be a juror several times, spokesman Stu Loeser says, serving seven days on a jury in 1992, six in 1988 and five in 1981.

Bloomberg is in his second term and said to be contemplating a presidential run.
