Three arrested after reports of vehicle break-ins

UTICA, N.Y. (WKTV) - Utica police have arrested three people responsible for a series of vehicle break-ins.

Police responded to a call around 5 a.m. Wednesday at the 900 block of Nichols Street for a report of car break-ins.

Police arrested Richard Hendricks, 20, and Charles Phillips, 19, both of Utica, as well as a female, 16, whose name is being withheld due to her age.

Police also say Hendricks illegally possessed a loaded handgun, which he kept inside a backpack.

Hendricks faces charges of criminal possession of a weapon, which is a a felony, as well as charges of petit larceny. Phillips and the girl are charged with petit larceny. All three suspects are also accused of unlawfully entering several cars and stealing items from inside.
