UTICA, N.Y. (WKTV) - The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention found that U.S. adults consumed an average of 11.3 % of fast food in 2007-2010. NEWSChannel2 asked around to see how much some people in Utica ate and found that many say they consume even more.

"Probably 40- 50 %," said Floyd Eckler.

"Maybe like 3 or 4 times a week we'd get McDonalds," said Sylvia Roberson. "We'd get the salad from them, chicken, things like that so you know we're cautious on it."

Whether choosing healthier options or not, the fast food seemed to be what a lot of people are still reaching for.

"Maybe I'll get a sandwich from McDonalds in the morning, Burger King in the evening but a couple, two Big Macs maybe," said Eckler.

However others said they need to stay away from fast food for their health.

"I watch my diet because of diabetes, I watch my carbohydrates that way I keep my sugar low," said Tony Nistico. "I think everyone should do that, cut down on fast food and be healthier."

The 11.3 % of daily calories from fast food were found surveying Americans from 2007-2010, a drop from 12.8 % in 2003-2006. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in Atlanta released the report Thursday.
