AHL implements drug testing program

By WKTV News

(WKTV) - An education and drug testing program will be implemented for the American Hockey League beginning with the upcoming season, league officials announced Thursday.

The Utica Comets are part of the AHL.

The program is the result of a collaborative effort between the AHL and the National Hockey League. The move replicates the collective bargaining policeies already in place for NHL players.

The AHL drug test program will be administered by the doctors who supervise the NHL's performance-enhancing substances program and the substance abuse/behavioral health program.
