Two found dead at East Utica residence, homicide investigation underway

UTICA, N.Y. (WKTV) - Utica Police confirm to NEWSChannel 2 that one male and one female were found dead at a residence on South Street in East Utica and now officials are investigating a possible homicide.

Police said both died from apparent gun shot wounds. Other circumstances surrounding the deaths are unknown, according to Utica Police Chief Mark Williams.

Utica Police responded to the scene just before 11:00 p.m. Officers entered the home with their guns drawn, according to witnesses on the scene.

Chief Williams said he had not confirmed the victims' identities.

Chief Williams said these could possibly be the second or third homicides for the City of Utica in 2013. When asked if this was a murder-suicide, Williams said it is way too early in the investigation to determine that.

The first homicide victim of the year was Petra Gonzales, who was shot and killed by her on-again-off-again boyfriend Jerry McNair in early February.
