Authorities search for suspect of Whitesboro bank robbery

WHITESBORO, N.Y. (WKTV) - Police are on the lookout for a man who allegedly robbed the Adirondack Bank in the Village of Whitesboro late Tuesday afternoon.

According to Whitesboro Police Chief Dominick Hiffa, a white male entered the bank on Oriskany Boulevard wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and jeans just before 4:30 p.m.

Chief Hiffa says the man's face was covered.

The suspect demanded money from the teller, said that he was not joking and threatened that he had a weapon, according to police, but no weapon was displayed.

The suspect escaped with an undisclosed amount of money and took off on foot on Oriskany Boulevard in an easterly direction.

Police had no other physical characteristics to describe the suspect.

There was also a police response to Schoolhouse Apartments on Main Street in Whitesboro because of a possible connection to the suspect, but police confirm to NEWSChannel 2 that it was determined unfounded.
