Bass Pro Shop job fair held today

By ALLISON NORLIAN

UTICA, N.Y. (WKTV) - Bass Pro Shop is coming to the Riverside Center in Utica, and held a job fair Monday through today at the Radisson Hotel to fill 200-220 jobs.

Hundreds of people have come out the last few days, applying for jobs that range from cashiers and customer service positions to boat repair and boat techs. They are also looking for people to fill positions within their hunting department, maintenance and to sell camping equipment and their apparel.

No experience is required to apply, and they will train anyone with a passion for the outdoors.

The General Manager of the Utica Store, Joseph Chaney, said he believes his shop will better the local economy by drawing more business to the area. Chaney also believes customers think of great things when they hear the words "Bass Pro Shop," which is part of the reason they are expanding to Utica.

Chaney said, "It's the gateway to the Adirondacks...how can you beat that? For NY state its hunting and fishing...its fantastic!"

Second interviews are already booked for the rest of this week and next week. If you are interested in an interview, but can't make it to the job fair today, applications can be found on Bass Pro Shops website.

The shop is set to open October 10th.
