NORTH UTICA, N.Y. (WKTV) - One man was found shot to death in North Utica on Wednesday night.

According to Utica Police, a man was walking with his son when they found a body lying in the grass in front of 725 Mapledale Avenue.

Police say the victim was dead when paramedics arrived and a gun was found next to him. They are calling the death suspicious.

"We have no indication of a crime other than the fact we have a victim who died of a gun shot wound, and at this point, we don't know if it is self inflicted," says Utica Police Chief Mark Williams.

As of Wednesday night, police say they have yet to identify the victim, and it is not clear whether or not he lived inside the home where he was found.
