Clarkson students in CNY for fingerprint sampling

NEW HARTFORD, N.Y. (WKTV) - Students from Clarkson University were at Sangertown Square Mall on Friday to collect fingerprint samples for research.

Their project is to research how to stop fingerprint scamming, where fake or copied fingerprints can be used to break into computer-protected computers.

The end result of their research will be software that can better tell the different between real and fake fingerprints.

Coming to Utica for sampling will help give the students more diversity and wider demographics in their research base.

Their collection will continue Saturday in the Macy's Wing from 4pm to 9pm.
