Cold Brook man accused of welfare fraud

COLD BROOK, N.Y. (WKTV) - A Cold Brook man has been charged after the Herkimer County Sheriff's Office says he engaged in welfare fraud.
According to the Sheriff's Office Welfare Fraud Unit, William M. Almas Sr, 42, of Cold Brook has been charged with offering a false instrument for filing.
Authorities say Almas failed to report self-employed income on his Welfare Benefit Application that was filed with the Department of Social Services located in February 2012.
Almas was processed and released with an appearance ticket returnable to the Herkimer village Court at later date.
