Congressman presents posthumous medal to New Hartford Vietnam veteran
NEW HARTFORD, N.Y. (WKTV) - A Vietnam veteran from New Hartford who passed away unexpectedly last year, has now been awarded the medals he earned serving our country.
Congressman Richard Hanna presented the medals to the widow and son of John Shaw who served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War and was part of the esteemed Navy Sea Bees. The Shaw Family was presented four medals, two service stars along with several ribbons. John Shaw was also a very active community member in New Hartford, serving on the New Hartford Police Commission for 30 years as well as a former member of the town council. He passed away last July. Saturday's ceremony was open to the public. |
