DOT to accelerate work on Chenango Road superstructure

By WKTV News

(WKTV) - The New York State Department of Transportation will accelerate the schedule for completing work on the replacement of Chenango Road over Sauquoit Creek, State Sen. Joseph A. Griffo announced Thursday.

The DOT will allot $1.38 million for the superstructure replacement of the road. According to Griffo, the Chenango Road structure project will be funded through the New York Works Highway and Bridge Project Acceleration Program for the fiscal year of 2014-15.

According to Griffo, the DOT has indicated preliminary work on the project is slated to begin soon.

In July 2013, the bridge was briefly closed after damage was caused by flooding of the creek. The Sauquoit Creek borders New Hartford and Utica.
