Derrick Carter back in court for Rome homicide


UTICA, N.Y. (WKTV) - Derrick Carter, the Utica man accused of shooting another man to death in his Rome home was back in Oneida County Court today, where he rejected a plea offer that was extended by the District Attorney's office.

Carter was accused of shooting Rome man, Charles Digristine in his Rome home. He was arrested a few weeks ago after a four month investigation.

Digristine was found dead on March 26th from numerous gunshot wounds.This was the first murder of a string of them that occurred in Rome just this year.

Carter was charged with murder in the second degree and has been held at Oneida County correctional facility.

Carter will appear in court again on August 29th for motions.
