WEBB, N.Y. (WKTV) - A downstate man was killed early Saturday morning in a snowmobiling accident in the Adirondacks. The accident happened at the corner of Trail 5 and Carter Road. According to the Town of Webb Police Department, 44-year-old Gregory Hauff, of Babylon, New York, near Long Island, was traveling at a hire rate of speed when he missed the entrance of the rail, hit a snow bank and was thrown into a tree. Hauff was pronounced dead at the scene by a county coroner. An autopsy is scheduled. Police say the cause of the accident was driver inexperience combined with a high rate of speed.
