By WKTV News

(WKTV) - Remsen native Erin Hamlin had a strong run in Sochi on Monday in the women's single luge event.

Her first run clocked in at 50.356, trailing only Germany's Natalie Geisenberger. Hamlin's second run was even faster with a time of 50.276, making her total time 1:40.632. After her second run, Hamlin is in third behind Geisenberger and Tatjana Huefner, also from Germany.

A broadcast of Hamlin's first two runs will be shown just after midnight Monday on NewsChannel 2. The medal finals in women's luge are at 9:30 a.m. and 11:10 a.m. Tuesday. The finals will be broadcast on NBC, beginning at 3 p.m. Tuesday afternoon.

If Hamlin medals, it will be the first time an American woman has medaled in luge singles.
