Police: Foggy weather accident could have been a lot worse

CLARK MILLS, N.Y. (WKTV) - Police say an accident along State Route 5 in Clark Mills could have been a lot worse if the drivers weren't using caution due to the foggy, icy weather conditions.

Police say a tractor trailer driven by Thomas Sorichetti of Pennsylvania was heading west, but pulled into a driveway at 7856 State Route 5 to turn around shortly after 4 a.m. Tuesday.

That's when a vehicle driven by Ryan Haggerty, 20, of Verona struck the truck and hit the undercarriage.

When the drivers got out of the vehicle to discuss damages on the shoulder of the road, a third vehicle driven by Amy Spytko, 27, of Little Falls, swerved to avoid hitting the vehicles in the roadway, but struck Haggerty.

He suffered minor injuries to his arm and leg, but refused treatment.

The accident remains under investigation with tickets pending.
