Former motel manager charged with forging check

ONEONTA, N.Y. (WKTV) - A former motel manager is now facing charges after cashing a forged check in Oneonta last summer.

24-year-old Kyle Jay VanDewerker, who is the former manager of the Amber Life Inn Motel in Colleirsville, cashed a $600 check from the business.

The motel's owner contacted authorities this past fall to report an unrelated crime and discovered this incident while auditing his books. A warrant of arrest was obtained for VanDewerker from the Oneonta City Court. He surrendered himself last Thursday.

If convicted, VanDewerker faces up to seven years in prison.
