HERKIMER, N.Y. (WKTV) - The Herkimer County man known to children as ''Harry Potter'' was found guilty of two counts of rape and endangering the welfare of a child, in Herkimer County Court Monday.

Jeremy Snyder, 27 of Ilion, faces life in prison when he is sentenced in January, said Herkimer County Assistant District Attorney Scott Klosner. The sentence is based on Snyder's previous record.

Now a third time felony offender, Snyder was previously convicted of attempted burglary, sexual abuse and failing to register as a sex offender, said Klosner.

At the time of the rape Snyder was 27, the victim was 13.

Snyder, who many kids thought looked like the Harry Potter character, enjoyed the attention and told authorities he "enjoyed hanging around the younger crowd," Klosner said.
