By ALLISON NORLIAN

ILION, N.Y. (WKTV) - The Central Valley Academy gymnasium was a sea of navy and Carolina blue Friday night, as 160 seniors received their diplomas for graduation.

The day that many never thought would come, was one filled with happiness, excitement and pride.

Many of the the seniors said when Mohawk and Ilion districts first merged, they weren't sure how they'd feel on graduation day. After a few months as a combined school, they learned to love and appreciate their new merged home.

"Everyone was on their toes because it was a new district," Edward Bandel, a graduating senior said. "But as the year progressed around January everything got good, we all new everyone and we settled. It was a great year."

The brand new Alma Mater, that was written, composed and produced by the schools music teacher was performed for the first time.
