Culture on display at International Night at JFK

UTICA, N.Y. (WKTV) - Students and staff at John F. Kennedy Middle School got a taste of what life is like for a variety of cultures during the school's International Night Event Wednesday night.

The event featured cultural displays, food and dance performances. There were 23 different groups represented.

School officials say the goal of the event is to help students mingle and learn about the variety of cultures both in the school and outside of school.

"We have a very diverse culture within the area and within our school," said Josephine Tebano, JFK Middle School. "What happens is a lot of the students really don't talk to each other and we wanted to create something where students can see what other cultures are like."
