Local girl to be featured on Toddlers and Tiaras

ROME, N.Y. (WKTV) - She likes to curl her hair with a curling iron and flash her big smile to a crowd; Brooklyn Bird is a three year old Rome girl turned beauty queen and is the first ever from Rome to be featured on TLC's show Toddlers and Tiaras.

Brooklyn's mother, Ashley said her daughter was destined to be a superstar, " I wanted to get her into pageants because she was a really cute baby and I just heard about the Sun Burst Pageant so we decided to enter her into that. A year later she ended up winning that pageant which is where she got the big six foot trophy from. It all flourished from there."

The competing continued until a few months ago when Brooklyn and her mother were asked to be on the show, " The pageant company we usually compete with, Angel Face Pageants got offered to be featured on Toddlers and Tiaras and we were chosen by like 50 or 60 applicants. We were 1 of 3 families chosen to be featured," said Bird.

Bird also said her daughter is happy competing in pageants and that she is living vicariously through Brooklyn, "A lot of people say moms do this to live through their kids, and I feel that I do live through my daughter but I don't feel its a bad thing, like I am not forcing her into it and its not anything she doesn't want to do. You want to watch out for your kids and even if you're living through them as long as they are having fun it is not a big deal."

Brooklyn hopes to be the the next Miss America, a cowgirl or even a veterinarian.

The show will air next Wednesday September, 25 at 8 p.m.
