UTICA, N.Y. (WKTV) - One group of Central New Yorkers are already in Washington D.C. Fifty passengers boarded a bus at the Radisson Hotel Sunday night to make their way to the inauguration.
Some are members of St. Paul's Baptist Church in Utica while others are just excited to be a part of history. "Just to be there with everybody because I think all of us are of a similar spirit we're just praising God for what he has done in this country." says Barbara Scantlebury from Whitesboro.
"Just to be there with everybody, because I think all of us are of a similar spirit." says Andrew Brantley. "We're just praising God for what he has done in this country."
Tyra McKinsey is one of the organizers of the trip. "Being Dr. Martin Luther King day, it's not only a day off for us but it's also a day on. A day on where we can actually reflect on our history. Reflect on the future of our country and just to basically be a part of history."
McKinsey says they are hoping to visit the MLK Memorial today as well.
