Man badly hurt in snowmobile crash ticketed for DWI

ANNSVILLE, N.Y. (WKTV) - A man injured in a snowmobile crash has been ticketed for DWI.

Oneida County Sheriff's deputies say Thomas Potter was traveling in a north easterly direction on trail C4 between Rt 69 and Taberg Road in the Town of Annsville on a 2006 Ski-Doo snowmobile.

They say Potter failed to stop in time for a tree that had fallen across the trail. Potter struck the tree and was ejected off his snowmobile. I

t is believed that this accident occurred sometime around 1:00 am and that Potter lied on the trail approximately 1 hour until a groomer from Taberg Trail Blazers came back through.

The groomer operator stated he had groomed that section of trail at about 9:30 pm and the tree was not across the trail. Immediately after the on scene investigation was complete Taberg Trail Blazers removed the tree.

Potter suffered injuries to his face, sustained a broken neck and a broken back. Potter was issued a ticket for snowmobiling while intoxicated, returnable to Town of Annsville court on a later date.
