Man thought to be missing actually captured by bounty hunters
CONCORD, N.C. (WKTV) - The man originally thought to be missing in Oneida County was actually found to be in law enforcement custody in North Carolina, according to the Oneida County Sheriff's Office.
According to Lt. James McCarthy, 23-year-old Jonathan Hopkins was captured from his New London home by bounty hunters.
Bounty hunters pursue a criminal or fugitive for a reward.
His family then reported him missing on Wednesday and involved local police agencies, who asked for the public's help in relocating Hopkins.
Then the Oneida County Sheriff's Office learned that Hopkins was wanted by police in Concord, North Carolina. It was discovered that Hopkins was actually in the custody of the Cabarrus County Sheriff’s Office and in jail.
The Oneida County Sheriff’s Office has closed its local investigation on the matter.
