Maple season, farming celebrated at VVS

VERONA, N.Y. (WKTV) - The maple season is in full bloom in Central New York and VVS High School hosted a pancake breakfast and maple sap house tours on Sunday.

The Oneida County Maple King and Queen were also named.

A $5,000 donation was delivered to the VVS Future Farmers of America and the Oneida 4-H Organizations.

The donation comes from the Monsanto Company.

Bob Dewaine of the Monsanto Company said, "America's Farmers Grow Communities is a national fund where Monsanto wants to recognize local organizations, non-profit organizations, that are doing good things within the community. How a organization gets chosen for this award is based on local farmers nominating these organizations.

The two organizations were nominated by Barbara Mushala of Mushala Farm in Cassville.
