Mother hopes to raise awareness about Autism through bike race & hike

By WKTV News

ILION, N.Y. (WKTV) - One mother is hoping to raise awareness about Autism so people here in Central New York can help spread the word.

Thursday at Francesca's in Ilion, those with the Kelberman Center announced what they're calling Adventures for Autism. It's a combination bike race and hike that's being held on August 8th at Russell Park in the village.

The fundraiser's chairperson, Jennifer Hall, says it's something very personal for her to put on this event, "there's a lot of families that are affected by Autism or know somebody with Autism, so I wanted to bring something to this area. Seeing that my daughter is autistic, it's very personal to me to see some awareness brought to this area."

You can register for the mountain bike race online.

It's $25 a person. Registration begins at 10:00am. The Autism Awareness Hike is free but donations.
