21- year old college student drowns in Mohawk River

LITTLE FALLS, N.Y. (WKTV) - A 21-year old man dies after drowning in the Mohawk River on Moss Island in Little Falls in the vicinity of Lock 17. 

According to the Herkimer County District Attorney Jeff Carpenter, the college student was enjoying the beautiful day with his friends on Moss Island when this tragedy happened.

District Attorney Jeff Carpenter said the body has been recovered thanks to help from Little Falls fire department, Little Falls police department, St. Johnsville Fire Department, St. Johnsville dive team and the New York State Police chopper.

The man's identity has not been released, but his family has been notified. 

The investigation is ongoing.
