BOONVILLE, N.Y. (WKTV) - A fire at a storage facility on Main Street in Boonville Monday night remains under investigation.
Several artifacts from the Black River Canal Museum, including historic bobs, and a wheel and axle were all destroyed along with the building. The items had all been donated to the museum and were one of a kind.
Twenty one new canoes, not even out of their original packaging, were also destroyed in the fire.
"It's kind of heartbreaking," said Ed Fynmore, President of the Black River Canal Museum. "You can't replace things. My son has got some things in his garage, I have some things in mine. but the bulk of them were down there...gone."
The Village of Boonville also used the facility for storage, as did the outdoor farmers market.
