OTSEGO COUNTY, N.Y. (WKTV) - The annual Otsego County fair began today, with food and fun for people of all ages.

There is much to find at the festival. Judy Harris, festival manager said 36-45,000 people attend. Her favorite part of the fair is the horse racing and the livestock.

Harris said, "They can find all kind of food, live stock, cattle, vendors, all kinds of exhibits, cooking and sewing and during the week there is a quilting demonstration so people can try their hand at quilting, spinning and weaving demonstration and lots of antique competitions."

Many locals were at the fair preparing their cows for the cattle judging, including Ellie Ainslie. Ainslie prepped her cow for months strictly for this fair.

"A lot of working with her, I washed her at home, cow bath and clipped her, kept her fed and her stall space clean and all those things to take care of them."

Ainslie said she plans to do this for as long as possible.

"This what I love doing. I started when I was very young, my parents did it my grand parents did it and its just a great experience. You get to see friends and have a great time together."

The fair is six days long and lasts from 10 in the morning until 10 at night. The gates open at 8 a.m. The entrance fee 5 dollars, but $2.50 for children 14 and under.
