Over $180,000 raised at flood telethon

(WKTV)- A total of $187,528 has been raised during the Flood of 2013 Disaster Recovery Telethon Wednesday night at the St. Luke's Home in New Hartford.

News Channel 2 and Roser Communications teamed-up to help the United Way raise money for the flood victims to help them through the recovery process.

United Way officials say their first priority is to make sure emergency services are provided along with short term recovery efforts.

More donations are accepted by texting the word "United" to 5-2-0-0-0.

Officials are amazed by the generosity of the community.

"I've been out there, I've seen the need and to almost double that it's almost phenomenal," said Brenda Episcopo of the United Way.
